ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. It promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger opponent by using leverage and proper technique.
At Ronin Martial Arts, our BJJ program offers both gi and no-gi training for all skill levels. Whether you're stepping on the mat for the first time or preparing for your next competition, our world-class instructors will guide your journey.
WHAT YOU'LL GAIN
BJJ is for everyone — men, women, children, and seniors. No prior experience is required. Our beginner-friendly classes ensure you'll feel comfortable from day one.
IN MEMORY OF A LEGEND

Master Marcio "Macarrão" Stambowsky was one of the most beloved figures in the history of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — a man whose warmth on the mat was matched only by the depth of his knowledge. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1959, he began training at the age of sixteen under the legendary Rolls Gracie, becoming one of only five people ever awarded a black belt by Rolls himself. That lineage is rare, sacred, and it shaped everything Marcio believed about the art: that Jiu-Jitsu is not just a sport, but a way of life. He carried that belief with him when he moved his family to the United States in 2007, founding Gracie Sports USA and Team Macarra BJJ in Connecticut, and spending the rest of his life sharing the gentle art with anyone willing to step on the mat. He eventually earned the 8th degree coral belt — one of the highest honors in BJJ — a testament to a lifetime of dedication, sacrifice, and love for the art. The Gracie Macarra team that trains here at Ronin Martial Arts carries his name and his spirit into every class. We are honored to be part of his legacy, and we train in his memory.
